Robert Fildes

Robert Fildes is Professor of Management Science in the School of Management, Lancaster University and Director of the Lancaster Centre for Forecasting. He has published widely in forecasting and planning. For ten years from 1988 he was Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Forecasting and was President of the International Institute of Forecasters, 2000–2004. His research interests are concerned with the comparative evaluation of different forecasting methods and the implementation of improved forecasting procedures in organisations. Current forecasting projects are in the design of forecasting support systems (funded by industry and government) and in automatic methods to select the most accurate forecasting method. For many years he has worked with BT on telecoms forecasting projects and also spent nine months with Bell Communications.
