ATM SIM – Thailand’s first mobile banking service

With ATM SIM, customers can check their bank balance, make transfers and payments and be informed of their payment deadlines wherever they are, simply by using their mobile phone.

The service was introduced in 2008 by Telenor mobile operator dtac together with KASIKORNBANK, making financial transactions easy for Thai people.
Enabling use of ATM services via mobile phone
ATM SIM is a SIM card innovation that enables customers to conduct money transactions via their mobile phones as if they were doing them at an ATM. ATM SIM also enables mobile phones to warn users of approaching payment deadlines and allows customers to add their credit card accounts to their SIM. Hence, customers can check their available credit and outstanding balance via their handsets. In short, ATM SIM users can perform virtually any banking operation except cash withdrawal using their mobile phones.
700,000 ATM SIM subscribers
The SIM guarantees the same level of security as other financial transaction channels of the bank but is much more convenient for its subscribers. There are currently more than 700,000 ATM SIM subscribers who have carried out as many as 6.8 million transactions and are transferring over 4 billion baht a month. It is estimated that that the number of ATM SIM subscribers will reach 1 million by the end of 2008.
Award for Best Mobile Money Service
In 2008 ATM SIM won the award for “Best Mobile Money Service” at the GSMA's Mobile Asia Congress in Macau. GSMA is the global trade association for mobile operators.
